From the start of the server, there has been a forbidden region north of Spawn walled off by a mysterious barrier:
The barrier has just disappeared, revealing a treasure hunt for the top 17 miners from the March Mining Madness event!
If you were in the top 17 miners (aegisjester – The_Real_Lego), visit the mail room at Spawn – you will find your treasure map leading you to your event reward! WARNING: your “X” will disappear when you get close to your site, so remember it well!

April is finally here, and its time for a new build contest!
This month, we are looking to build a new Nether Portal building at spawn. This will take players to the Nether Hub, but it also needs to have a warp point for future events.
As always, submissions need to be made by leaving the coordinates as a comment on this post, or by posting them to our official forum thread on minecraftforums.

Our March event focuses on mining! Go figure! We are currently working on a new Wither Skeleton Farm in the Nether, which requires a HUGE excavation.
To get things moving along, we are offering up 4x mining XP for Netherrack for the month of March. If you want to get in on the action, break out your fanciest pickaxe, and head to the “Wither Dig” warp at spawn to get in on the action! This is a great opportunity to take advantage of the SkillSwap to build levels on other skills too!
For the duration of the event, the tab scoreboard will also keep a tally of how much Netherrack you’ve mined – so keep it up!

Details: Earn 4x MCMMO mining XP from Netherrack. Digging at the Wither Farm excavation site is encouraged. You can find a warp to the Dig Site near the Skyblock warp at Spawn.
Love is in the air with the MinecraftLovers Valentine’s Event!
From Feb 12 – 28, all players get 4x alchemy XP – so get out those brewing stands and whip up some potions!
Also during this event, you can temporary craft new Love Potions!
Love Potions will grant the drinker Absorption, Health Boost, and Damage Resist. However, since you become smitten on drinking, you also get Weakness, unable to do much damage in combat!
To brew a Love Potion, follow these steps:
Keep in mind that with these special potions, the brewing stand won’t show the brewing progress (but it will still brew in the normal time). Happy mixing!

The mcMMO SkillSwap is a new service that applies to your overall mcMMO skills. Using SkillSwap will let you transfer some of your mcMMO XP from one skill to another.
If you meet the necessary conditions, you can swap 500 levels of one skill in exchange for 200 levels of another. This means if you do tons of mining but hate fishing, you can swap out 500 of your mining levels to increase your fishing perks.
To use SkillSwap, you must:
This means if you have Level 500 mining, you can’t just swap it for 200 levels of Archery – your swapped skill must be at least level 1000. You also can’t use SkillSwap to increase your Repair skill from 1200 to 1400 – you can only use it to level up to a maximum of 1000.

The next build contest is an important one – a new Welcome Center!
This is the first Build Contest with NO SIZE RESTRICTION – build as much as you see fit! We also have a bigger build window, lasting from January 4, 2019 through January 31. Voting will begin on February 1.
The winning build will be a new Welcome Center – this will be the first place new users will find themselves when logging in. The welcome center must include:

While the winning entry will be for the new players, the runner-up entries will be used as part of the spawn areas in some other new dimensions we are adding to the server! This includes:

After a year of hiatus, the Skyblock Challenge is back! For those who have never seen a Skyblock before, check the image above – you start on a tiny island floating in the void, and need to make the most of your limited resources to build out, completing several objectives.
You can access Skyblock from a warp at spawn. Your inventory will be separate in the Skyblock world, so you can’t bring in any outside items. From the skyblock lobby, you will grab a ‘block of your own – just label it with a sign.
Your MCMMO skills from the regular world DO carry over into Skyblock – so you have a major incentive to improve!
To complete the Skyblock challenge, you will need to:
Each “Skyblock” has two islands floating near each other. You have the option of completing your Skyblock either individually (you can connect the two islands and use both sets of resources) or with one other player (you will each start on a separate island, and can build out to connect). Choosing either path doesn’t change the rewards, but you can only gain support from your Co-Op partner. You must complete the challenge without any outside help from other players.
Completing the Skyblock Challenge will grant you one extra /home, and access to the Ether dimension – a new world based on Skylands where you can build some really epic stuff!
For those of you who want more of a challenge, we also have an Advanced Skyblock Challenge available. This requires a lot more time and luck to complete, as well as high levels for your MCMMO skills.
To complete the Advanced Skyblock Challenge, in addition to the base challenge you will also need to:
Completing the Advanced Skyblock Challenge earns you a unique Unbreakable pair of chain boots with Feather Falling 5, Protection 5, Fire Resist 5, and Depth Strider 3. You also get an Unbreakable fishing rod, with Lure 5 and Luck of the Sea 8. They can be obtained via the command ‘/kit skyblock’. Both rewards are renewable once per month, even if you then lost in lava or the void.
If you’re still too good even for the Advanced challenge, see if you can beat the Expert mission! To complete Expert Skyblock, you need to have finished Advanced, plus:
Completing the Expert Skyblock Challenge will win you a set of Unbreakable Elytra with Thorns 3 and a Bow with Looting 3, Mending, Infinity, Power 4, Punch 1, and Flame. They can be obtained via the command ‘/kit skyward’ and are only renewable once a month even if lost.
Completing the skyblock challenge can be frustrating. You will need redstone and sugar, which are dropped by Witches, and Iron, which is dropped by Zombies. You will also need animals – expand out your island (without destroying all the grass!), and get a nice, large grassy area, and some animals will eventually spawn.
Unique to this server, you can use MCMMO to obtain other important resources:

The hostile mobs of Minecraftlovers are getting in on the holiday cheer, with special gifts available to mob hunters! Through December 31, hostile mobs have a chance of dropping their heads!
This is in addition to the Holiday Party, so brew up some Spiked Eggnog and Holiday Wine and get hunting! Oh, and don’t forget to vote for the December Build Contest!
